The Bethel University Campus Library offers faculty additional classroom support through streaming video options. Please fully review the information and options below. The library works to provide a balanced collection that considers the academic needs of all subject areas.
General Information to Consider
- With streaming videos, there can be restrictive vendor licenses that cannot be changed by the library. Vendors also have the right to remove content if they no longer have the right to include it in their collection.
- With some streaming services like Kanopy, there is an excessively high cost to purchase individual titles. This can be $100-$300 per title for only single-year access.
- Some streaming videos are original creations that come from platforms (Netflix) that do not allow for institutional memberships.
- There can be instances where videos are from unique markets and licensing options are not available.
- If a streaming video is needed that is not in the collection the request must be submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the needed start date.
Streaming Video Options
Films on Demand
Films on Demand is the primary streaming video service for students and faculty. With the subscription model, all available videos are searchable including academic films and documentaries on a wide variety of subjects. This should be the first location to search for streaming videos. As all titles included are readily available, they can be added to your classroom quickly. There are not options to add in additional titles, as this is a pre-set subscription listing.
Kanopy
At this time, Kanopy is limited to titles that have already been purchased. These titles will disappear as the subscription runs out.
